This festive event consists of a parade of hundreds of paper-mache giants or “higantes” as they are called in the native tongue. This tradition dates back to the Spanish colonial history. Higantes come as puppets in the face of a man/woman in different costumes with their hands on their waist. This has been an annual tradition here that brings about local tourism opportunities, too. It is one of the most popular festivals in the Philippines that people of all ages look forward to and enjoy.
